Manager’s strategies in AL and NL

WHO NEEDS THE MOST KNOWLEDGE IN ORDER TO DO HIS JOB – AN AMERICAN LEAGUE MANGER OR ONE FROM THE NATIONAL LEAGUE?

In the first “Ben Boy’s Bedtime Story” I take a tongue-in-cheek swipe at the Designated Hitter Rule.  This question is not posed as a reason to vent on whether you hate or love the rule.  For right now, let’s discuss its ramifications in terms of the various strategies on that field that have been affected as a result of this change.  Disucss the issue in terms of how an American League manager may have to alter his strategy versus that of the National League manager.

    American League managers have it easy compared to those in the National League! They never face the decision of whether to yand the starter in the middle innings in order to try and keep alive a come-from-behind potential rally OR where to hide the weak link in the batting order.
